Reading Progress

The Gray and Guilty Sea - Jack Nolte

Just started reading this book without looking through the synopsis. I thought it was about the sea. Might be pirate. After reading the first chapter, I realized it was an investigation story. It does have a compelling story for the first few chapters. Then the progress slowed down a little. All I know is that the character Garrison Gage is one kind of sarcastic bastard. I like that character. Right now I am reading through chapter 10. Not really much had happened. He is still investigating about a murder that happened in his area. I do think he might stumble upon his dark past during the investigation. But still, I haven't finish it yet. So I'm gonna keep update the story. No worries. No spoilers ahead. Just some interesting incidents that I might spill accidentally.

1984 by George Orwell

1984 - George Orwell

One of the books that caught my attention. From the famous author, George Orwell, the story is about Wilson Smith who is trying to figure out what is happening to the world especially where he stayed; Ocenia. This is the era where people scrutinize peoples action and under the dictatorship of Big Brother. At this age, no one is daring enough to express their feelings and oppose the government. The act of thinking about ruling over the government can poses a danger to oneself and even be erased from the world in just one night. Heck, even from the history itself.

I liked to progress of the story with precise details of what happened. Although it was just a fiction, I do think it might be other dimension we might live in. OR. Might be the future that we will face sooner or later.Let's just say we were hoping for a utopia world but instead, we were given the dystopia world

The presence of emotions involved throughout this story did seem real. The tense of the oppression, the chastisement and even the ending of this story.

I do recommend this book. The author made this book because of his vision for this world 40 years ago. It may not happen now but it might in the near future.

Overall, it is really astounding.

The NightShade Forensic Files: Under Dark Skies (Book 1) (Volume 1) by: A.J. Scudiere

The NightShade Forensic Files: Under Dark Skies (Book 1) (Volume 1) - A.J. Scudiere

Just finished the first volume yesterday. To be honest, I am really looking forward to watch the other volume. This kind of genre really piqued my interest. Cryptids? Cult? Investigation? Who doesn't love it? Also, the story gets more compelling after each chapter. The story has some interesting plot twists. But you can guess what is going on. And I really think that the bad guy in the story should have a more progressive story. But overall, this one is worth reading during the free time.

The Killer Next Door

Reblogged from Reading is my ESCAPE from Reality!:
The Killer Next Door - Alex Marwood

Sleep is a luxury whose price is security. Those who can shut the world out and leave it at will are usually blessed by a world that doesn't want to shut them up.

- Chapter 20

A group of boarders living in a run-down apartment house; they all have secrets, that's why they ended up there. But one of them has a darker and more dangerous secret - one of them is a killer.

This is a dark story filled with danger and suspense. The characters are well-developed and engaging. It was easy enough to figure out who was the killer, but the end was a bit unexpected. There is some pretty gruesome stuff in here - if you are squeamish, you might want to avoid it. However, if you liked Wicked Girls by Marwood, you will probably enjoy this one.
